United Nations Society of Memorial

last ratified: Winter 2024

The Memorial United Nations Society exists to promote awareness of global issues and give students opportunities to engage with them in a format aligning with that of the United Nations Legislative Assembly.

To that end, the society hosts several conferences each year - this includes Collegiate Conferences for University students as well as MUN Squared, our annual High School conference.

The society is not limited just to those events, and also hosts mixers and other social events to further engage with our membership as well as potentially work with other societies. Furthermore, we endeavor to subsidize students attending McGill University's annual McMUN United Nations Conference each January.

The Memorial United Nations Society does not explicitly fall under the Political Science Department, but was originally founded by a Faculty Member belonging to the Department and has received much support from it in the past. That being said, our membership has always spanned across various academic disciplines and is in fact one of the best parts of joining the society - it provides opportunity to interact meaningfully with people outside of your department and work together to run events and learn about new topics.
