MUN RoboSub is an engineering student group at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). The group is comprised of engineering students with diverse backgrounds working on bringing a concept to reality. Designing an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) to represent MUN in the RoboSub AUV International Competition, held each summer at the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific's TRANSDEC Anechoic pool in San Diego, California.

Today our group has over 20 active members originating from the faculties of Engineering, Business, and Computer Science. We strive to develop a cutting edge, unmanned underwater vehicle by passionately working towards application of mechanical, electrical, software and project management concepts.

MUN Robosub provides students with an opportunity to develop hands-on engineering design skills, experience collaboration within an interdisciplinary team, and develop extensive project planning expertise. Members are introduced to an environment where they can develop their skills in communication, time management, and team collaboration—all of which are necessary for success in the workforce.

This academic group will aid in promoting innovation and creativity among engineering students. Working on developing a prototype of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) would help students apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.

The group members would learn various technical and interpersonal skills from senior members. The group will also act as a safe space where members could make friends and socialize with fellow students from different faculties (engineering & business majors). MUN RoboSub is already recognized by the Design Hub Space of Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and is excited to submit this ratification application to MUNSU.

MUN RoboSub will represent MUN for the first time in the annual RoboSub International Competition held each year in San Diego, California. We believe that this participation would help in showcasing to the excellence of MUN's Engineering Program in creating technical leaders on a global level.
